San Jose State-CSU : Vote 'Yes'

  • Add a secondary identity that includes the words "California State University", such as "CSU San Jose", "CSU Silicon Valley" or "CSU (1862)"

  • Restore the rights of San Jose State students to choose to identify with and market themselves under the CSU name

  • Restore San Jose State's prestigious and valuable identity as the original and oldest CSU campus

UWM Students Voted for State Names in 2006

University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, students voted on renaming their school in 2006, and voted overwhelming to keep their current state identity, even though it's not the main Wisconsin campus, which is located in Madison.

The top two vote getters were the existing UWM name and "Wisconsin State University". Names that focused on the school's city identity, like "Milwaukee State University" received very few votes.

The complete results of the student vote can be seen here: http://www2.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=1&date=4/30/2006&id=5474

Students at the oldest California State University (CSU) campus in San Jose, currently known as "State Jose State" should take note.

CSU San Jose Action for Education

The California Faculty Association recently conducted a "CSU San Jose Action to Defend Public Education" in San Jose, staging a mock car wash of CSU Chancellor Reed's car. The event was held to protest the low salaries paid to "SJSU" professors who must live in an area with one of the highest costs of living in the United States.

Lecturer Elena Dorabji, who teaches political science states, "I want to believe that I am working in a secluded ivory tower where I am given the resources to teach my students to the best of my ability. But everywhere I look I see the evidence of mismanagement, willful neglect and general malfeasance."

In addition to poor resources, CSU educators, students and alumni at "San Jose State" are not even permitted to identify and market themselves under a prestigious California State University identity, which could help make the school better known, more broadly appealing and wealthier, and could also help make the school's CSU degrees more recognizable and valuable.

This is the policy of the SJSU Administration and SJSU Alumni Association, both of which represent only the small minority of the school's students and alumni who support the provincial and limiting "SJSU" identity that disenfrancises thousands of CSU students, alumni and educators in San Jose.

SJSU Historical Revisionists Assault Wikipedia

San Jose State (SJSU) historical revisionists and their allies from other city-name-plus-the-word-state schools like San Diego State have assaulted the Wikipedia in an attempt to distort California and CSU history and limit references to San Jose's original identity (the California State Normal School).

Under the guise of technical Wikipedia rules, SJSU Wikipedia revisionists first vandalized and then eliminated a separate article devoted to the California State Normal School and also eliminated historical and other references to both the CSNS and the CSU restoration movement in San Jose. When these efforts were resisted, the principal SJSU revisionist, a self-avowed "hacker" who goes by the handle of "NewChaosX" was joined by two San Diego State alumni, who together successfully suppressed historically accurate and pertinent information and links.

This fits in with the general "San Jose State" practice of historic revisionism with respect to the school's history, identity and traditions. These revisionist efforts are dedicated to preserving the failed "SJSU" identity and denying the rights of CSU students in San Jose to identify with the State of California, and the CSU, and market themselves as CSU students and graduates.

The CSU Students of San Jose and CSU Alumni of San Jose groups urge CSU loyalists in San Jose and beyond to help resist the historical revisionism, censorship and repression of the San Jose State and San Diego State vigilantes on the Wikipedia.
